For those of you who have not seen the color of the house sorry these pics are so late but here is the new paint job we had done the week before evias birthday I love it it is the cutest house on the block alot of time love blood and sweat went into this place and we are so proud to have kept it in the family.

Cacias craft corner

Vintage and desiner fabric banners these fun banners can be used for decorations in your home or for parties or for childrens rooms. I start off with a semi circle pattern or a triangle you can make them any size you want I just made mine smaller so you could get a variety of fabrics. for mine I cut out at least 20-25 pieces of fabric. Be sure to make the pattern 1/4 of an inch bigger than what you want the final shape to be to take in account for seam allowances.I trace out the pattern on fabric then cut them out then i take the two pieces and pin them together right sides facing towards each other. then sew 1/4 inch around the edge then turn the fabric inside out. I iron the fabric so it lays flat as possible. I take a 1 inch wide ribbon and iron it in half to create the strand.Take your fabric pieces and space them almost end to end and pin them into place long the seam of the ribbon.Then proceed to sew along the ridge of the bottom of the ribbon.

Cacias craft corner Vintage button wreath

To make these fun wreath I took a gallon icecream lid and traced it on a sturdy piece of cardstock and cut out the circle the I made about an inch diameter in the middle to create the center. Then I cut the center out. I made my circle a little smaller than what I would have liked but I was limited on buttons so you can make the wreath as big as you want. I then carefully glueguned the buttons in place on the circle I noticed the more I layered the buttons the cooler it looks. Thenb after the circle is complete just take a ribon tie it around the wreath and you can hang it on your front door using a hook or command strip. I have yet to buy a command strip that is why they are not hanging up yet. try it out let me know how yours turned out.

Turning the big 50!!!

Dada turned 50 this year somfor a gag when everybody fell asleep i took masking tape and wrote a message to dad cause since he is over the hill now i created an easy route for him to follow in the morning so he doesnt get lost. I labeled his socks for him so he doesnt put his socks on the wrong feet. and "even though he might leak dad can always depend on us". there was a geizer crossing. and a swiffer is useful for sweeping and a cane so dont feel shame use the cane!. there was dad designated old person seat and an x on the seat so he doesnt miss it. there was a do not resucitate sign on his picture. and many other cute things I was up till 2:30 working on it and i could hear him chuckling and walking slowly upstairs the next morning it really made him laugh and it was great to make his day. kt and jenkin came over later for dinner and they gave dad the first of his funny shirts. it is a tradition we do with my grandpa we give him a funny shirt every year and now that dad is 50 we are starting the grand tradition this year was suitibly a ketchup shirt. it was way cute i made a silly homemade shirt that was sad in comparison. But happy birthday papsey!!!

Wheeler farm fall fun

This was such a fun day david had the whole day off except for school so we decided to go to wheeler farm to pick pumpkins we got there and evia started to freak out over the horses and cows she was so excited. she got even more excited when she saw the ducks and geese walking around. the geese were her height or larger and she was laughing as she chased them around I was actually surprised she did not get pecked. we climbed a tree house and we went on a wagon ride through a haunted graveyard and through the buildings. there were sheep and pigs and old tractors for us to climb on she would have stayed on the tractors all day if we didnt tell her we were going to get our pumpkins.it was so cute there was a hay maze for little kids and a small pumpkin patch for them to grab pumpkins david was taller than the maze so it was kinda cheating. evia loved running around and by the time we were halfway through the maze she laid down in the straw and tried to rest.We went through the maze and picked out two pumpkins taht were included in our ticket as well as the wagon ride. he picked up half the pumpkins and wanted to take them home with her. We posed in fun wooden sign decor and she loved the giant pumpkins stacked as a snowman. all in all it was the best day out we have had in a long time it was wonderful to do fun fall activities with my whole family.

Here is a new project I am making for the quilted bear booth I put a piece of cardstock under the onesie before I stated to make the dots for the necklace. I just used puff paint to make the necklace. After the paint dried and made a sequince flower and sewed it onto the onesie. It looks so cute on babies. It is an adorable way to dress up an old onsie for your little one.

Scrapbook Expo 2011

My mom got the opportunity to sell her ribbon caddys at the utah scrapbook expo her and my dad and her friend brenda worked their tails off to spraypaint cut assemble, and create these caddys for the expo. I went and helped out with the booth and even though mom and dad were making the caddys out in the parking lot mom and dad had a great turn out for their first year they sold quite a few .I also decorated the aprons with some cute ribbon flowers they turned out great.

Mequettes and Jenkins Wedding

Mequette met a wonderful man jenkin white when she told me he was going into vetrinary medicine he loved animals, he was a returned missionary he was big and strong and good looking . I knew right then they were meant to be together I could tell how happy she was I have never seen her on cloud nine before but she was on cloud 20. And when I met him I automatically felt he belonged in the family. I was so happy for them and excited that brandon and david had a new bro to hang out with.We live in a family of girls it was so nice to have another guy in the mix to go camping and do stuff with. There engagements were awesome it was exactly like them even though it rained they took advantage of the situation and had a blast and loved their pictures. We had a fun bridal shower for kt and on the actual wedding day it seemed so strange that my baby sister was getting married she was sohappy and looked so beautiful and grown up. her dress was stunning and how the couple glowed was even more amazing. The ceremony was tender and the spirit was so strong it was so nice to know that now we are all an eternal family. Here is a close up of mequettes bouqet. I sepnt months working and creating this beautiful heirloom. I think it turned out beautiful

Jenkins sister made an amzing cake and it was so nice meeting his nice large family it was so wonderful to celebrate them being married for time and eternity .Here are also the one of the boutineres I made they turned out amazing and everyone loved how unique and gorgeous they were.

The Bride to be Eve

This was a fun day after a little miscommunication we finally got to artistic hair where we had nail apointments set up for us and the bride mom and bree went out of their way to get some fun balloons a tiara boa and fun badge/ banner for kt to wear I could tell that extra effort sure made kt feel special. she is not the one who likes the limelight on her but that day was all hers apart from the wedding. Kt got her nails done and then we went to her favorite restaurant Wing Wah where my mom and bree had decorated the back room of the restaurant in zebra and hot pink and some of kt's buddies were there. we had chinese, had girl talk chatted opened some fun prizes among other things. But the funniest gift of the night we were expecting kayla to give kt some lingerie when in fact she gave her this ugly flannel nightgown that went down to the ankles we all were laughing so hard my sides started to hurt. Mequette said it actually looked so comfy she wore it that evening .

after Wing wah me and bree decided to go get some treats to watch a fun movie. we went back and I found some facial mask stuff and asked bree to put it on I told her we were doing sisterly algae bonding. she just laughed at me and was a party pooper and didn't put it on, but me and kt did and I actually have to say it felt pretty good. I think we did not do to bad for a bachelorette party it was a ton of fun. notice below the gorgeous plaid nightgown hilarious huh!!

Day with my Big sister

Before Mequette got married bree was in town with coco I was so excited to show her the fun antique stores in salt lake. I have been wanting to have a girls day with her ever since coco was born.I was so glad we could have some time together I miss her all the time and whenever I am out and about I see a funky colored dress or owl cookie jars and I think of her. When we were little we slept in the same bedroom forever I remember talking at night and remeber at school having her back and her having mine.As a little sister I wanted to protect her as she protected me and because of that one time a class mate of mine made fun of her and you guessed it i punched right in the nose the next day he came to school with a broken nose. I would do anything for my sisters. I consider myself to be very lucky to have a loving relationship with my siblings. I think when my sisters passed away we realized there was no sense in fighting with each other or being angry. Even though kids will be kids and we disagreed we never truly fought. Bree introduced me to her friends one of which is my husband and took me under my wing in highschool. I look up to her and admire her for her creativity and sense of multi tasking. She has her own business three kids one with slight autism, she teahces dance lessons reupholsters chairs, throws aewsome parties ... what can't she do!! she can literally dances circles around me. We sang the star spangled banner after 9/11 to the governor and in many other places like the dee events center and weber state. But we also sang hymns and beautiful songs in church, seminary,school. And even now when I am singing in church I wish I could be hearing her alto voice next to me.She is an amazing dancer and could bring tears to your eyes when she danced I am a bit clumsey I can dance but not like her I was always jealous of her dancing and tumbling skills, while she was doing backflips I couldnt even jump on the small tramp for fear I would kill myself. but no not her she had no fear.She is the best Big sister I could ever have she was always there for me and my only wish is I could be even closer to her despite a 15 hour car ride so here is a tribute to best sister and to the funnest sister day I have had in years.

when these two girls were born we called them ebony and ivory they were so different but now that they are bigger they also seem so similar

We started off the day by going to my favorite antique store emily jane bree was looking for some books and some secretarial stuff for a photo shoot in rexburg. she loved all the fun stores and it was fun to share my gelato store and favorite shops with her . we took the girls to del taco and coco pretty much fed evia the whole time they were sharing fries and feeding each other chicken it was so sweet they loved being with each other. we went to several other antique stores and bree found some fun "treasures " that were calling to her but the other fun part was taking the girls to the gateway fountains in their swim suits.

The girls loved running through the fountains they were a little scared but soon got used to it evia actually was running so fast she face planted it and bit her lip tears in sued but she insisted she still want ted to play with coco. after the girls played for a bit i took bree to my favorite store called Z gallerie it has very cute home decor stuff but it is not expensive like pottery barn she found an owl vase and a cool candelabra and said it had to come home with her . I love shopping with her cause she gets so excited and freaks out over the smallest things she likes. I wish I could kidnap her and do this every day hmmm maybe I will watch out brandon!! I want bree to know how much i love her and how much this day meant to me. and even now evia asks to play with coco and she gets upset when she cant see her it is so sweet and guess what i get teary to when i cant see my sis so here is to girls day and sisters!!!!

Autumn sun catcher

Autumn sun catcher what you need is fall leaves paraffin wax and fishing line. I picked grape leaves and leaves from the park to get a variety. First take your wax and put it in a double boiler pot . Let it melt be sure to not have the water from the double boiler get in the wax it will make clumps.

Once the wax is fully melted and liquid like water take the leaf and dip it into the wax pull it out and let the excess drip off I let my leaves dry on a paper towl

Now be sure your wax is very very hot or otherwise when you dip the leaf it will go on opaque and thick like the leaf on the right as opposed to the leaf on the left. Then once the leaves are dry take some string I want to use fishing line so the leaves look like they are falling . You can use any string you want if the leaves still have stems tie the string around the stem if not just glue gun the string to the leaf. Then just hang them up in your window and voila you have a beautiful autumn sun catcher . This is a fun activity for you and for kids!

Bree got evia the owl bedding I have been eyeing since january I was so excited but what was even funnier was how excited evia was over the blanket she asked me to take it out of the package and when she saw what was on it she yelled OOOOWWWWLLLSS!! so so cute

Mequette wedding dress shopping

I have to say this was such a fun day dad watched evia while we went dress shopping with kt we went to this tiny store called the bridal corner in north ogden little did she know and to our amazement she would find her dream dress there. And the girl who was helping us was adorable she made the experience really fun

here is kt putting down money for her wedding dress she was so excited and also freaking out she was spending so much on just one article of clothing

here was the first dress she tried on then she found the dress of her dreams the second time there was no competition the really ruffled one was the way to go

I have to say she was the prettiest bide i had seen and me kt and mom knew that was the dress mom of course was touched and got teary it was so sweet she looked like a princess and she deserved to feel like one.and even though she still needed the sleeves and back to be made modest she looked beautiful with the birdcage veil and creme dress. she was stunning and guess what the dress was even on sale.after she found her dress we went next door to wingers and had lunch to celebrateall in all it was a wondeful day I will not forget.

New..... well sorta new Table and chairs

Liz is the best ever a few weeks ago she got this cool table and chairs from her neighbor and she did not ahve room for them so we got them for free !!I am so excited because the cushions come off and you can reupholster them in any fabric you want!! These chairs and table will be painted white to match the molding in our living room. So if anyone needs a round black table let me know!! This post will be a work in progress TBC.............

Porch Demolition Derby

Yesterday david had his day off and we made a deal if I cleaned up all the bear lake stuff and the house he would put up molding in the bedroom or kitchen so lets just say I got it done and the next day while i ran to get supplies for mequettes wedding bouquet I came home and the bathroom and the kitchen had all the crown molding up. David did a wonderful job considering there is no 90 degree angle in our house. He was even so ambitious at eleven o clock last night he also trimmed limbs off of our tree. Then he found out he had another day off He was so on a roll that he sold something on ksl this morning and went and got materials to fix the sagging porch. When he was ripping it apart I could see why we have an ant problem thousands of ant were living in between the carpet and the wood. I love it when david gets motivated he turns into a demo machine and does not stop till it is done and quite frankly he is kinda studly while destroying stuff. The beams and wood were crumbling under davids touch and I could not beleive how nasty it was underneath old rat holes and some that were new, and huge cobwebs, cast iron pipes and even an old paint can from when my parents painted the house yellow.

Aww I love the smell or ripping up nasty carpet in the morning!!

after david is done we will have a nice new wooden porch and it will be painted white to match the rest of the house when it is done. and the bottom of the porch will be open so we can keep tabs on the critters but until that time keep in touch and in a few hours I will post more pics of the finished product.....

Okay I have just posted this blog entry and from the time it took me to type this david has removed the lattece the two pillars, the steps and all of the borads are missing exept the straight beams that create the floor. he is a beast!!!! Oh and another thing he broke a hammer during the process he he

Bear Lake 2011

This years Bear Lake was a blast!! All the family was there and we rented the sweet water condos again this year. Due to the run off the lake was so full and so much closer than last year. The only problem was the beach had ons of grass debris but our handy men just started to clean off the beach. The kids loved all the fun beach toys mom and dad got and once in a while greyson would ask for the prize patrol. And our patio was so full of beach toys youcould barly get outside. Evia particullary liked the seahorse.We had a fun cookout and grandpa and aunt marilyn came up It was so nice to have grampy up to see all of the kids at once me and david made burgers and brats and had a fun dinner outside We did so many fun things We swam for hours at the lake and the swimming pool brandon took evia down the slide and greyson and me became slide pool buddies.And the boys loved being towed on papas boat even though the excitement got to them and they fell asleep before they came on shore.I even got buried like a mermaid. Later that night while we were playing games a huge storm came out of nowhere and the wind was crazy so the boys were our heros and ran down to the beach to grab our stuff they got most of our things except for an air mattress which was probably on the other side of the lake byt the time the boys got there. It was hilarious to watch them run down and soon after we looked over and saw dozens of other men running down to the beach to grab their stuff as the boys ran back under some willow trees they said they could hear branches cracking. Later the next morning there was huge branches and limbs on the ground right where the boys were running.We then took fun family pictures with mequettes wedding photographer on the beach and at the harbor. The Pictures turned out so cute! We were only able to see a few of them But i will post more pictures of that later we went and got a famous bear lake rasberry shake. We also flied kites Mequette got a cool parrot kite from mom and dad it was hilarious to watch jenkin run at full speed trying to get the kite up. Mequette found a friend to watch the kidlets while we went to a wonderful melodrama called " Who shot Juanito Bandito" We had a wonderful rib eye dinner before the play and then watched the play. Due to a little mix up with the playhouse we were scattered around the theater but I was just glad we were able to get to see the show.The villian Juanito Bandito wrote and directed the play it was hilarious my sides were hurting by the end of the play. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time there was alot of lds humor which made it even more funny. After that we came back to the condo and decided to go crazy with glow sticks We took some very cool pictures and even sprayed glowstick juice all over Mequette, some got in her eye but she was a good sport and was dancing like lady ga ga and doing piroettes through the sprinklers. That was such a fun night we were all so tired but we were having to much fun to notice. The whole time the kids were so cute and were having a blast playing on swings playing with kites, coloring, bubbles you name it we did it!! This was such a breath of fresh air and was so much fun I did not want to come home until the last day all of us were sunburnd beyond belief everyone was on tylenol and aloe vera. The last day we cleaned up checked out and spent the day on the beach and boat Evia was so sleepy and was so scared when me and david went out on the tube she kept crying and to keep her from being scared we said daddy is going fast zoom zoom and then she started to repeat that over and over until aunt ketty eventually was cozy enough to fall asleep in her life jacket.Byt his time everyone had enough sun and we were ready to head home. We ate at wingers stayed the night at my parents. I think I got to much sun and was not feeling good so I watched the kids for a little bit while the adults went to see harry potter. The boys were so cute and wanted to snuggle next to me while they fell asleep I miss them already. By the time we came Home i realized I had done more in a week than what I have done the past three months . So thanks mom and dad for all the hard work and planning we could not have done it without your help. And to all my family I love you and can't wait till we get all together again!!

The Patty Wagon Mom hurt her ankle and doctors orders had her wear a boot the keep it from getting swollen so dad brought this little wagon it eventually became the hit with the boys.

How funny is this me and bree are on the same wavelengths or something I bought this suit for evia months ago and bree just bought one just like it for coco and my mom bought a polka dot pink one for evia and bree also had the same pink suit for coco. How weird is that.

Fourth of July Craft corner

Evia is wearing the Ruffled Fourth of July onesie and headband. For the onesie I took about eight to 10 inches long and 1 inch thick of fabric that was red white and blue. I then made a loose running stitch 1/4 of an inch along the top of the fabric sinched the ends together to create the ruffles. I then tacked them into place with pins and used a sewing machine to sew them to the collar and then progressively sewed the other pieces under each other to create the layered ruffles. Be sure to tuck them far enough under the other ruffle so you cannot see the stitching. I then made three different size yoy yo's 1 inch 2 inch and 3 inch diameter and sewed them together with a navy button and then glue gunned the flower to the headband. I would have made a cute ruffle for the bum but I was running low on fabric this is a easy project to do especially if you have cute fabric scraps lying around.

I'm so glad when Daddy comes home!

For a few days I ahv been working with Evia on learning the fathers day song from primary. We practiced only a few times before she started to sing it and do the actions and even though fathers day is over she is singing it all the time especially when david is home. We went over to my parents and they had prepared a wonderful bbq even grandpa and aunt marilyn came. I made two cheesecakes for everyone. This was a long day I had my first primary lesson and I had to take another class so I pretty much taught 15 kids and was pretty stressed that day but when I got to my parents it was so nice to relax and see everyone.Jenkin and ketty were also there The food was awesome and just as we were setting up david pulled up in his truck Evia flipped out she was screaming daddy home!! Daddy truck!! She was so excited to see him. It was a riot We even got evia to sing the fathers day song for grampy dad and david it was so cute.

Givin our dad some love aunt marilyn printed everyone off some photos of grandma and grandpaI can't wait to put them in frames and hang them up.Dad got a cool extension cord that retracts for kt and jenkin and we gave dad a rice cooker since that is really a huge source of his diet.For davids fathers day tie I added a knob from the shower to represent fixing musser ct and a baby polly pocket for evia it looks just like her.I also made a cute powerpoint for david it was really cute. After our fun festivities we went and visited paul and joann It is always so nice going over their house you always feel weclome and loved Paul is a wonderful man who has raised his son to work hard and taught him lifetime attributes. I am so greatful to have such wonderful men in my life they truly are a huge influence And I am so greatful they are able to hold the priesthood and who are the best examples of strong men and valient men I love you my sweet david and I am so greatful you are evias daddy.

Happy Mothers Day

David ahd to work mothers day he just got a new job working for a cavble install company called pioneer cabel and earlier in the Day bry spoke in churhc about his mission he has grown so much since I last saw him but he is still his sweet self. He fit back in as if he had never been gone he was having fun with all the new grandkids. We had a fun party for his homecoming with all of the tanner clan and then I headed over to my parents to celebrate a bit with them. Mom and dad had stayed up till the sun came up because they were watching a prison break by the time I got over there it was about two and they were still sleeping. So mom and me and ketty had a fun mothers day breakfsat tea party style in the play room.I had just started the HCG Diet and was not bale to eat a nummy breakfast that stunk. then we gave mumsey her przes and davdi walked in the door just before she opened them He took off his hat and you can tell evia is his daughter from this picture.

Prepping for paint

David picked up the pressure washer and as soon as he got home he started right to work on removing the old paint he was covered in paint chips and had a grin from ear to ear david loves working hard and I love that about him so much we chose a really pretty color grey with a red door look . It looks very nice and it will be awesome once we can get a fresh coat of paint on it we are hoping to have it done before evias 2nd birthday party. Tommorow I will take pictures of the aftermath.Y once pretty garden is now littered with latex paint shrapnal.

Haircut day

Poor titan looked so hot in the backyard so I decided to give him a bath and since we were on a roll david took on the monumental task of trying to contain our wiggly 70 pound dog. Luckily we had peanut butter filled pretzels that he loves so we used them as bribes. David used some clippers and about two hours later here was the aftermath. I just was happy it was warm enough to wash him outside and not in our bathroom even after you would clean it you could still find hair everywhere.

We could have made a blanket out of all the fur we got off of him!

Want to add some vintage flare to your kitchen ? All I did to make a cute decoration for my countertop was taking the label off of a morton salt container and I stuck it in a frame I have also seen really cool collages or frames with cereal box front in them it adds color and creates a fun feel to your kitchen. And now days cereal companies are making blast from the past cereal box containers, such as wheaties and cheerios. sorry this post isn't that exciting I am working on other crafts though and will post newer creations.

My Evia is all girl I have caught her trying to paint her toenails with all sorts of items here are a few

Crayons,Peanut butter,markers,soap,glitter,hot gluegun stick,pencil, paintbrush and tonight she painted her toenails with the peanut butter and when she squished it in between her toes she laughed hysterically. I just let her do it because I might have my first case of bronchitis and I did not feel like fighting her creativity

The problem with our neighbors

Bree I am doing this post for you I think you will get a kick out of it!!When we moved into musser court we met emily and gary across the street and when we met them they were nice and kosher to us but as the months went by Emily just got meaner and ruder. When our furnace went out and we had no heat mom and dad came by to help us put in a new furnace and parked in our neighbors parking spot so we could get the furnace through the front door. Well after dada and david got the new furnace working the furnace started to smoke from it burning off the paint so I opened the front door to let out all of the smoke and the next thing I knew my neighbor was yelling at me from the driveway. She was livid we were in her parking spot which technically our driveway is city property to legally anyone can park there she started yelling at me in front of everyone about how inconsiderate I was and what bad neighbors we were. AKA she was being a witch and later told david that she was a witch. I have tried to make amends for whatever horrible thing I have done to her. I even said hello to her once in the yard and this is what she said. and I quote " Acacia I can't do this! this whole small talk thing is not working I am very mad at you right now and I don't want to talk . shocked at being yelled at for saying hello I then told her "I am so sorry I don't know what I have done to offend you but if you just tell me I could try to do better" She then told me she wanted to sometime make amends and talk our problems over some coffee. David later came home and said over my dead body! I still don't know what I have done to make her hate me maybe it is because I have a hot husband and a beautiful daughter ? Or because I am happy and she is not? Who knows and still after months of not going in my front yard because I am afraid she will attack me I have decided to take a stand. I am not going to be run over anymore and so today I think I figured out what her problem is. We pulled up the driveway and noticed their cars were gone I looked over and saw a disturbing site in their garden . So I went through the gate and took some pictures to tell everyone I have proof my neighbor is really a witch or head hunter either or. She had stuck childrens dolls on stakes and barbie doll makeup heads in her garden to scare all of the birds away. Yep I have proof It has nothing to do with me it is all her!!

Happy 25th Birthday David!

Today david turned 25 he is a 1/4 of a century yesterday we went to dinner with shaun and nat to rodizio grill . The food was wonderful and since david had not eaten all day and pulled a twelve hour shift needless to say he was starving. What better way then to eat a buffet of meat. And I was finally sneaky and asked our waiter to sing the most embarrasssing birthday song ever. when they sang that loud boisterous brazilian chant to david he turned 4 shades of red and when they stopped evia was still clapping and asked for them to do it again .it was hilarious and so cute then we walked home and had marshmallows and cake and I must say the cake turned out funner than I expected. I saw a cool rainbow cake on facebook a while ago and david thought it looked cool so I thought I would give it a try and it turned out awesome and it matched the fun decorations I made out of evias construction paper. Evia also painted daddy a picture and learned the birthday song. The only problem was she got bashful and would not sing it to daddy. For davids prizes we found an awesome deal on a kitchen aid on ksl he has wanted one forever and he deserved it. By the end of the evening all of us were so tired and slap happy that nothing we were saying was making any sense so we decided to call it a night. And luckily we celebrated yesterday because I have had a high fever all day and am feeling miserable. I hope my sweetheart enjoyed his birthday and we will make all sorts of goodies with his kitchen aid to come. So Babe heres to you!!!!

Ogden Temple

Ogden Temple

Davids Grandpa Nate is a sealer in the ogden temple we went to the temple the last day it was open for the renovation.It was so spiritual and such a wonderful experience to do sealings together as a family. I wish we could do it every week. It helps put life in perspective and the things that you think are important really are not . What truly matters happens behind those temple doors with the ones you love. This is the last time you will see the temple looking like this. I have been close to this temple my whole life and it will be so strange but refreshing to see what the temple will look like when it is done. Paul an Joann were also married in this temple and it was sweet to see the two of them kissing for Nate like they were newlyweds.

Easter Fun

I know my posts are way way late I have been trying to figure out how to add my gmail account to the blog so I can log in on my account not davids and we finally got it worked out!! yippee I promise hereby to be more diligent in getting posts up as soon as possible. But here are some of the events that were not posted.

Easter here are some cute pics of evia having a hopping good time! She loved looking for the eggs and once she found them all she would dump the bowl and pick up the eggs again. We also had a very fun hunt at the tanners but our camera was not working so I will have to get pics from nate of that event.

Evia tried to eat the bubbles like the nummy ones in the bathtub ... ya it did not taste so well in the end!

Cacias Craft Corner

Here is my newest creation a cute pear pin cushion. Now remember that this was my first time making it so it looks more like a bloated squash but it dis not turn out to bad It was a very fun project to do I just created a pear shape panel made six of them out of fabric then I cut them out. When all of the pieces are cut out you take two panels and face them right sides facing towards each other then you sew them 1/4 inch along the edge. Repeat this process till all six of your pear shaped panels are sewn together. Leave an opening at the top and bottom for putting your stem and stuffing. Then turn the pear right side out so the front of the fabric is showing. Then I rolled up some brown felt handstitched the edges together then tacked the stem to the top of the pear and took green felt did a blanket stitch around the edges then tacked those onto the stem . Then I stuffed the pear which I probably overstuffed. And to top it off you slip stitch the bottom to make the pear seamless.I will haveto make a cute green one next I made this one for a surprise for my big sister. I made it out of some scraps she had but it kinds looks dorky so I am going to make her a better one.You should try making the pear using five panels and see how it turns out. Happy Crafting!!

Daddy's Little Helper

About a week ago My mom and dad stopped for a visit and we got alot accomplished in the yard it was nice to have my mom there helping me rake and getting our yard picture perfect. During this time david was superman and fixed the front gate but not with some help from evie. Before we had to kick and pull up on the latch and then push in to get the gate open it had sagged so much over time that barly opened. But thanks to david and his sidekick It swung open like it was brand new. Evie had seen us using screwdrivers wrenches,rachets before and she was no dummy she went right for the screwdriver and was trying to be as she says it "Helper". She even started to take the screws and tried to put them back in the holes in the fence. She also was trying to use the wrench she was being so adorable and she kept saying fix it .She handed daddy tools and would go up hug his leg and would say " Daddy Home". It was so cute I took a ton of pics.

Mumsey also surprised us by having dad pick up some pieces of sod to fill in our lawn . It was so nice of them and to know we would not have to worry about seeding again . all of the neighbors bird feeders attract tons of pesky bird and all of the seed was getting eaten. I can't wait till it grows in and we can lie on our nice grass and not get muddy Thanks Mumsey and Papsey! And sorry this post is so short but our internet is kinda crummy so it took me two hours to load everything grrr. Next post will be fun easter festivities!!

Cacias Craft Corner

Allright to all of those people who read our blog I am going to try something new I am going to try to do a new craft or a project per week and i will write instructions and pictures on how to make that project. For my first craft since it is coming close to easter I will be giving you some tips on how to make your own homemade eggs dyes. Now every year we make ukrainian eggs and the dyes go rancid after a few years so here is a recipe that only needs three ingredients and is very simple.

Homemade Easter egg dyes

1. 1 cup of hot water

2. 1/4 cup Vinegar

3. 25 drops of Liquid food coloring or food coloring paste

Depending on how dark or vibrant the colors you want depends on how many drops of dye you use. Be sure to use whit vinegar it acts a an agent that makes the eggshell hold it's color. Now for those out there who have difficulty getting the colors you want here is a lesson of colors 101 displayed is a picture of a color wheel that might help with your mixing.

Primary colors : These are colrs that are pure and cannot be created by combining other colors these are Red, Yellow,Blue

Secondary colors: You combine the primary colors to create the secondary colors Green,Purple,Orange

Tertiary colors: you combine a primary color with a secondary color these are Orange red,Yellow Orange,Yellow Green,Blue Green, Blue Purple, Red Purple.

And If you really want to be hard core and make dyes out of all natural materials here are a few plants and other items you can use for dyes just boil them down. All of these colors can be found in nature just experiment and see what happens.

Red: Cranberries or Rasberries

Yellow: Tumeric or orange peels

Green: Celery seed, Dandilion leaves,spinach

Blue: Blueberries

Purple: Grape juice

Brown: Outer layers of onion

Pink: Rhubarb, Beet juice

Also an unconventional method is using good old kool aid packets so give it a try and tell me what you think! Hoppy Easter!!

Easter Crafts and Decorations

these sweet bunnies are made with vellum you and also make them out of tissue paper to make a sweet garland. You can also make a flag garland out of fabric or pastel colored or patterned paper or here is one made of blown out eggs.

using dyed egg shells to hold small grapehyacinths , blue bells and lily of the valley here are some other centerpieces.

and if you are really into decorating hardcore easter eggs here is the best thing pysanka eggs /aka ukrainian eggs. here is a brief history and images of the eggs. to start the eggs you take a kitska which is a tool you warm up over a candle and stick bees wax in the top and as it heats up you can draw on the egg whatever design you want and whatever design that is it will be resistant to the colored dyes. You go from the lightest color which is the eggshell white clear down to the last coat black Then at the end of the black stage you take the egg over the candle and melt and wipe off all the wax from the eggs shell.

The word comes from the verb pysaty, "to write", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax The word pysanka refers specifically to an egg decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs, and is not a generic term for any egg decorated using wax resist. Many other eastern European ethnic groups, decorate eggs using wax resist for Easter.With the advent of Christianity via a process of religious syncretism the symbolism of the egg was changed to represent, not nature's rebirth, but the rebirth of man. Christians embraced the egg symbol and likened it to the tomb from which Christ rose. With the acceptance of Christianity in 988, the decorated pysanka, in time, was adapted to play an important role in Ukrainian rituals of the new religion. Many symbols of the old sun worship survived and were adapted to represent Easter and Christ's Resurrection.Pysanky are typically made to be given to family members and respected outsiders. To give a pysanka is to give a symbolic gift of life, which is why the egg must remain whole. Furthermore, each of the designs and colors on the pysanka is likely to have a deep, symbolic meaning. Traditionally, pysanky designs are chosen to match the character of the person to whom the pysanka is to be given. Typically, pysanky are displayed prominently in a public room of the house.
In a large family, by Holy Thursday, 60 or more eggs would have been completed by the women of the house. (The more daughters a family had, the more pysanky would be produced.) The eggs would then be taken to the church on Easter Sunday to be blessed, after which they were given away. Here is a partial list of how the pysanky would be used:

One or two would be given to the priest.
Three or four were taken to the cemetery and placed on graves of the family.
Ten or fifteen were given to children or godchildren.
Ten or twelve were exchanged by the unmarried girls with the eligible men in the community.
Several were saved to place in the coffin of loved ones who might die during the year.
Several were saved to keep in the home for protection from fire, lightning and storms.
Two or three were placed in the mangers of cows and horses to ensure safe calving and colting and a good milk supply for the young.
At least one egg was placed beneath the bee hive to insure a good harvest of honey.
One was saved for each grazing animal to be taken out to the fields with the shepherds in the spring.
Several pysanky were placed in the nests of hens to encourage the laying of eggs.

Everyone from the youngest to the oldest received a pysanka for Easter. Young people were given pysanky with bright designs; dark pysanky were given to older people.
A bowl full of pysanky was invariably kept in every home. It served not only as a colorful display, but also as protection from all dangers the colors and decorations are all symbolic and ave some meaning . so if you wanted to give one of these to a loved one it probably would not be a bad idea. Well I will update later with some ukrainain eggs of my own.

Albert Einstein Hair

I have never seen anybody who has worse bed head hair than evia she wakes up and it looks like she stuck her fingers in a toaster. I finally had to take a picture of one of the worse naptime bed head hair days. I swear I used no hairspray and she had her pigtails in for only during church then we took them out for her nap. I can also tell you she was blessed with one gene I don't have voluminous hair . David saw her and started to laugh we both lost a gut when we saw her afro, and she would just smile she had no idea why we were laughing but loved the attention from me and daddy.

Our Gardens

Saturday davdi went and took all the trash in the backyard and took it to the dump he did two trips and on the second trip he brought back home a truck load of dart dirt/mulch for only 20.00!! I was so excited it smelled so good of spring and of hard work. So we loaded up the gardens with the mulch and planted all of our bulbs and transplanted the rose bushes and Iris's. we made the gardens bigger and wind around more and they are also raised which looks really nice. I am so excited to see how the yard will look Evia loved taking a shovel and helping me dig in the dirt she was loving it. She also tried to put some garden gloves on and even helped me plant some bulbs.It was awesome at the end of the day when we came in it was so nice knowing we got alot of things accomplished and when I came inside I noticed all of our shoes outside the door covered in mud . It brought back memories of gardening every saturday morning and having dad wake us up with the cougars cheer only a little bit modified and it went something like this. " Rise and shout it's time to get up it is time to weed the garden" Then dad would steam roll over us or use a spray bottle to get us up. I am just so happy to have a place where me and david and evie can start making some fun family memories. So here are some pics of how the garden looks now.

Silly and Sweet things Evia does

Putting the glasses from Mr. Potato on her face

She loves helping me put on my makeup no matter how messy shemakes me look I still love having her do it

She tries to put on her own diapers.and fails miserably

She brings me things she finds on the floor and says yucky as she hands it to me.

She helps me do the dishes by sticking her toys and books in there as well.

I tell her to go get cozy and she goes to titans dog bed and sucks her thumb and cuddles her lambie

She loves reading and brings me books to read if i am sitting down she comes and snuggles in my lap and we read the books together

She loves it when I make a nummy dessert and snitching some of it

When we have prayers she folds aher arms and will even sometimes squint her eyes.

Tickling the flowers, playing monster and hide and seek and hearing her squeal with delight when I catch her

Hearing cars pull up and thinking it is da da or me ma and papa coming home

Finding a nickel or quarter lying around the house and bringing me her piggy bank, she loves to say the coins names and put the money inside the bank but when the money is in the bank she gets upset and tries to open the bank.

Helping momma craft by pulling out all of my recently folded and organized fabric, and then bringing it to me to fold again.

Her lambie is her constant companion.

When I was not feeling well she brought me one of her blankies and a her lamb and laid next to me.

when she has bad diaper rash she took a shower with david and he called me in a few minutes later to find out she had fallen asleep on his shoulder while in the shower.

Saying cheese and having her give me a big goofy grin.

.Putting her toys in the toilet, or getting stuff out of the garbage can

Spinning around in a circle till she falls down or gets dizzy enough to run into the door frame

Eating bubbles in the bathtub, and washing her hair.

She love flash cards and lately has said mirror,farmer, airplane,octopus,pigs, shovel, sun,heart oval, brother ,sister

Helping momma plant seeds aka rocks.

Dancing to music from you tube.

She loves brushing her teeth she mostly just chews on the brush but when I take it away she starts to cry.

Seeing a picture of her canadian cousins and saying their names especially coco then she looks around trying to find her.Here are some of the things my sweet little lady does I hope it made you smile.

Fixing the yard

saturday we got motivated again and started cleaning up the front yard we tore out the two lilac bushes and transplanted one of them to another part of the yard. the big one had termites and ant that had eaten most of the root system . we decided to get really ambitious and dig up the old patio and move it by the garage so we would have a little more privacy. That area will now be our bbq pit and rib making area david was really excited so was I. Evia was trying to be helpful and help move small rocks she was also playing peekaboo from the front porch. The other day she conquered her fear of going down stairs and would climb up and down them while we were working. Another cute thing evia would do she would pick up dirt in her hand and move it somewhere else like david was doing with the shovel. but once she realized her hands were muddy she would start whimpering and reach out her hands to have me wipe them off. We also have grape hyacynths and tulips starting to sprout and evia would go up to the flowers bend down and say "tickle ,tickle" while she was running her fingers over the leaves,so she was tickling the flowers it was so cute.

And while david was leveling the ground for the concrete slabs I was digging them up and moving them over to him, I also dug up the borders that contain the gardens I did not get to pressure washing them yet or resetting them up the way we wanted.

I did not get a finshed shot of the patio befoire david civered it with some of the construction ,materials but here is what it looks like he also made a window well and he started to fill up the hole where the old patio was. It was so nice to hit the grinding stone hard again and get something accomplished.

Late night target excursion

About a week ago we had eaten dinner and were watching a show when somebody knocked on the door. It was a man from queststar gas he told us there was a gas leak and they were evacuating the neighborhood.This was about eight o clock and we were so tired Evia is getting her 4 canine teeth coming in and she was very sick with a deep cough and cold.She had been up at 2 o clock in the morning and had not taken a nap all day . needless to say she wasn't very happy when we woke her up by the time we left which was like ten minutes they had trucks, and large digging equipment and had cautioned taped the neighborhood off. So david looked at me and smiled and said so where do you want to go? So at 8:30 at night we were one of the only people in costco never had I seen that place so quiet so we got evia a book since she was feeling so crummy and we stayed till they closed around nine oclock nine thirty. Then we went to the new target that opened up by home depot we killed time by looking at fun spring stuff,cute clothes and david had fun running with the shopping cart evia thought it was hilarious. we eventulay returned home about eleven or eleven thirty. and when we got back we saw that they were digging up the main line and guess where that was about two feet from our front fence! I was just greatful that they were being thourough and checking everywhere it turns out the gas pipe had popped all the gas caps on all the houe in the neighborhood so each house had to be checked out and made sure it was safe to enter. they guy who was checking out our place was there for another hour then he left clearing the building. It was a very awkward situation at first but it was a very fun night just me david and evie being night owls.

Island Park 2011

This year we stayed at a cute little cabin called neils nest pardon some of the pictures. I left the camera in the car and when I went to use it the lens fogged up. Before we headed up though I had my IUD taken out it was killing me so I was pretty sore during the trip. It was fun to be all together in the same hosue we had fun breaskfasts and dinners and the next day we went skiiing by some of the other cabins.

Now david and nate are definatly brothers because before we left we found a bike trailer online and david managed to invent some ski attatchment sto put on the bottom of the wheels. so he made a sled evia did not like it at first but she was so tired she eventually fell asleep. and it turns out nate made one for baily to ride in as well it was the smartest thing to do for the trip . the trailer was sheltered from the snow and evia could move around in it if she wanted to.

some of the biggest hits of the trip were these. Rex bought this bubble toy taht you can stand in and then somebody can roll you down hills etc.. it was hilarious to look out the window and see this bright blue ball go down the hill the only bad part was the bubble cells started to pop so the bubble boy ball was short lived. the best part for me was when paul and jo watched evia for a little while while me and david made a huge snow cave david eventually was able to sit up on his knees and not touch the ceiling . I wish we could have slept in it it would have been fun but evia hates the cold and was teething most of the trip.we eventually ran into the porch of the house as we dug the cave. I haven't had that mush fun in the snow for a long long time. we also tried to make a snowman but the snow was to powdery.

Etsy Creations

now it has taken me forever to get my site up and going. Just finding time from being a mum cleaning the house and taking good pics and getting my debit card and pay pal to work has been a pain but here is on of my projects I will be selling. they are very fun to make they are bird pincushions I will also be making mobiles out of them as well only a bit smaller. The fabric on some of them is vintage fabric that my grandma use to have. they turned out quite nicely considering I have never truly sewn up until this point. Well here are my colorful canaries enjoy!

A Package of M&M's

Hello and happy new year everybody !! I want to inform that we now have more memory for our blog and I can add as many pictures as I want now so the thanksgiving and halloween thanksgiving and christmas of 2010 will be up soon. But first of for this new year I wanted to tell you the cutest story. David got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I have been going crazy ever since. All I think about now are quiet books and vintage stuffed animal patterns and cute clothes for evie. So to inspire me david and I went to joanns and hancock fabrics when we got to hancocks I sat down at one of the pattern catalog tables and sitting next to me was a middle aged african american man . I said hi and chatted with him then david pulled up with evia in the shopping cart, evia loves shopping carts and was already excited . and when Evia saw the man she would not take her eyes off of him and she was giggling and smiling at him he looked at her and laughed saying " All children like me just cause I look like a big chocolate bar" He then saw her princess and the frog shirt and said "Your daughter is so cute and I like that she is wearing the Black princess shirt, I'ts about time they had a black princess, the shirt looks good on her" This man was so funny and sweet with evia. He later caught up to david in the store and asked him "So what are you dong here does your wife teach you to sew and david said no I am actually teaching her " the man seemed appalled and asked "Well aint that supposed to be the other way around?" And as we were checking out with some cute patterns that were on sale he was in front of us he turned around and he asked " Well what is her favorite treat , what does she like? Let me guess by the way she looked at me earlier, I'd say she likes chocolate!" I said yes she loves any type of sugar, he then picked up a bag of M and M's and added it to his purchases I thought he was just getting a treat for his daughter , then he turned around and gave the candy to evia and said here just cause your so cute , her eyes got wide as she saw the candy and squealed in delight. We said many thankyou's and as he left he waved and said now you nice folks have a great day yall hear". I may never see that man again but he will never know how much this touched me for a complete stranger to buy my sweet daughter some candy, is was so sweet and yet very profound. This world that we now live in is filled with terrible things and is cares me to think that evia will soon be out there in that world, But seeing this mans simple act proved to me the world is still filled with wonderful people and experiences, and simple moments in a fabric store can sustain and lift your spirits.

Why can't toys be simple again?

I have been looking for some fun prizes for evia for christmas and sometimes I am bombarded by talking books, video games, baby einstein dvds's,mini laptops and cameras and kung fu hampsters. What happened to the good old days of actually reading a real paper book or wooden blocks, tinker toys. So I made a list a tribute you could call it to the toys and games of my childhood. First here are some things me and my sisters would do to play and entertain ourselves.

Sliding down our basement steps in a cardboard box

Playing dominos with all of our VHS movie tapes

dressing up and playing pretend with mom

Making giant forts in the basement with all the blankets in the house

Making mud pies with grapes hyacinths as blueberries

Red light green light or Mother may I

Making a girls only clubhouse in the field complete with traps so boys could not get in

Digging up dinosaur bones( aka chicken bones) in the field outside our house

Have a karaoke singing concert with celine dion and wilson philips

Playing sharklava with dad ( we would put pillows on the floor and if we fell on the floor while dad tried to catch us then we would fall in the lava)

Mom teaching us how to lay volleyball and softball oh and of course football

Playing monster we would try to escape from dad and the safe spot was the mail box if we were caught dad would stick us in jail aka the roof of our van or on top of the mailbox. The only way to get out was for someone to come rescue you.

We would rollerskate in our concrete floor basement before it was finished.

Littleset pet shops: miniature animals that were absolutly adorable with glitter and accessories Mequette loves these and has a ton for her furure kids. But the new ones have giant bubble heads what is up with that?

Pound puppies: miniature dogs and cats that you save from the pound

My little ponies: these were the envy and most beloved toys we used these toys till they were toast

Strawberry shortcake dolls: grandma had a awesome strawberry shortcake house that even smelled like strawberries!

Easy bake ovens: I know that they still have these but the old ones were tempramental lets just say not as safe as ones now

Legos: Now days legos consist of exrtavagant castles, space ships etc. We had a huge container just of the blocks no people we made so many fun things with those.

Skip it's: a ball on a plastic stick that has a hole on the other end you stick that part on your ankleand you skip over it like you almost would a jump rope my sister Bree was the best at that

Erector sets: My dad had erector sets from when he was little and he would make fun things with us like for school projects he had made a ferris wheel and a dinosaur and a catapult all of them were animated and would work off of little motors

Creepy crawlers bug making kit: where else could you make your own bugs and worms but in the 90's there was also a doll making oven we had as well

Giant bubble wands: the simple joy of creating huge bubbles on a summer day nothing better

Sidewalk chalk: we would make banners to welcome home mom and dad we would do shadow drawings and cover the whole front of our sidewalk in drawings,still to this day I love ,love sidewalk chalk.

Sky dancers. These were pretty dolls that had wings and they stood on a stand they had a pull string and when you would pull the tring it would launch the fairy into the air. Many an hour we played with those we used them till the motors worked no more.

Beanie babies: these were collectable animals mequette has so many she could have her own toy store

American company dolls: My grandma was a very avid doll collector she had dolls everywhere in her house and she spread that love to us by buying us all three girls the entire pleasent company dolls collection , samantha, felicity, addie,molly,kirsten these were the original dolls and they also came with the stories

My baby all gone: I took this thing everywhere with me the doll would magically eat and drink she was the coolest doll ever and I plan to get the newer version of the doll for evia.

Then when technology started to hit bree got a nano pet and that started the electronic toy phase that is still going on today. So this christmas remember the toys from your childhood and maybe try to get them the simple things that can please any kid.

Caught in the Act!!

I had just cleaned the bathroom including the porcelain throne, I went to go put the chemicals away as I closed the cabinet I heard a splashing I walked in the bathroom and Evia had both hands in the toilet and she was splashing her hands and laughing it was so funny but so gross!! I immediatly picked her up and washed her hands , and even when I was washing her hands she was still laughing

The Battle of Bath time!!!

Now Titan loves the water and if he sees a pond puddle or stream he jumps right in but when it comes to getting him to come into the bathroom and in a tub that is a different story. He is not as afraid of the wood floor as he first was but as soon as he heard the tub going he skidded across the kitchen floor trying to run away from me . I ran after him and I picked him up he was not happy he was whining and squirming all over and titan is no weiner dog . He is getting to be a big boy so lets say I think I will have a few bruises tommorow. I finally got him in the tub and when I turned the shower on he froze and the water was dark brown boy black fur sure hides dirt well. And his fur is newfie fur it is meant to be water proof so I really had to soak him to get him wet and once I started shampooing he calmed down and enjoyed the ride. Titan had some mats on his tail and by his behind so I went to go get some scissors to cut them off and he decided to make his getaway. He ran out of the tub and slide everywhere in the kitchen cause not only was he wet he was still was covered in shampoo!! He ran in the living room and before I knew it he was shaking. Everything slowed down as if everything was in slow motion as I he shook and got our couches rug and newly mopped and painted living room . I grabbed his collar and dragged him back in . When he got back in he was fine . And sadly I had to trim almost all of the pretty long hair off of his tail cause it was in dredlock mats. I thought I did a good job until later when I dried him off it looked like a really bad barber haircut.But at least he was clean . Then after I dried him I looked at the aftermath. Hair and water were all over the floor, shower, window and tub. and there was a huge giant hairball blocking the drain. But I took these pictures in the middle of the cleaning it was alot worse earlier but here are some funny shots. We will need alot of draino now.

Happy Birthday Papsey

For my papsey's birthday we came up to mum and dads and we stopped by costco and got dad a cool shop stool and some micro fiber cloths for his garage. Dad has been meaning to get his garage organized but has been to busy to tackle it so we decided to come up and help him. David and dad worked in the garage while I helped weed the yard the boys were having good man time. And I am glad we were able to help and make life a little easier for my mum and dad. When dad opened up his stool he was so excited and he stuck it right in his garage before anyone else could see it. It is nice and cushioned so hopefully it will help his tailbone and back won't hurt when he wants to go out and tinker. We also brought mexican coke for my mum and she was nice enough to share it with the boys.

Ketty was a mad pie making beast she made dad 2 gluten free pies and like 5 more for everybody else grandpa and aunt marilyn came up and so did evias boyfriend jenkin and here is something funny I went out on the porch and saw 3 pairs of shoes my dads' davids and jenkins and guess what they were all the same!! We had an amazing dinner Berntsen style full with nummy baked beans steak fruit and for birthday cake we had ketty's pies. Evia helped grampy unwrap his presents he got some shelves and cupboards for the garage from mumsey and he got a shop magazine subscription from ketty, and we got dad the shop stool and rags. Dad was beaming and he was truly happy just to be with his family and loved ones . He is such a simple man
and is still the man that I look up to the most. Happy birthday papsey and many more to come!!!
